Giant Lego appears on the beach and is "detained" by police

A doll like Lego, but 2.5 meters in height, remains "arrested" by police, after it appeared on a beach in Florida to the amazement of the swimmers, trying to decipher the meaning of the phrase that was written on the torso: "No more real than you."

"A swimmer found the 'man', which has been tentatively identified as' Ego Leonard", the name that appears on the back of the shirt, said a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office Sarasota County.

With some irony, he added that "no one is sure how he came to the beach, if it was placed there or was swept away by the waves."

The enigmatic doll about 50 kilos in weight appeared Tuesday morning in Siesta Key Beach, ranked as the best beach in U.S. in 2011, and quickly gathered around a lot of surprised bathers.

The giant fiberglass was "detained" by police later and placed "in custody", as detailed to the authorities, who added that the company Lego said to have nothing to do with this initiative, nor the Legoland theme park, that on October 15 opened in Florida.

Jeff Hindman who discovered the giant Lego stranded on a beach south of Sarasota, on Florida's west coast in the early hours of the morning. Initially thought it was an animal that the sea had washed away.

After close, saw with astonishment that he was a giant Lego toy with an inscription in green torso with a sense that said cryptically: "Than you are not real."

A similar Lego doll, written with the same phrase was found on a beach in Holland in 2007 and another in England in 2008.

In the back of the Lego toy Siesta Key Beach was written: "Ego Leonard", and written below the number eight.

The Department for Sarasota Sheriff's press wanted to make clear that "Mr. Leonard is in a safe environment until their owner appears."

Apparently behind the words "Ego Leonard" is a Dutch artist of course, but it is unclear whether it is a real name. Leonard's website, written mostly in Dutch, is titled "No Real Than You Are".

If not claimed by anyone in a period of 90 days, the giant made of Lego pieces will become the property of Hindman, who first saw it and who has already said he would like to auction it on eBay.
